Donate and get into the world-renowned California State Fair FREE! Sound like a deal? SMUD Giving Monday at the Fair is a chance to experience all the fun and excitement at the 2024 California State Fair for free while making a real difference in your community!

The California State Fair and SMUD are committed to our community and have partnered again in 2024 to help The Elk Grove Food Bank do its exceptional and critical work supporting those who are food insecure in the Sacramento region.

Here’s how it works:

  • Check our list of the most needed items
  • Bring five (5) or more non-expired, nonperishable items per person
  • Come to the CA State Fair & Food Festival any time between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM on July 17 and July 24, 2023
  • Receive a FREE same day admission ticket, courtesy of SMUD!

Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of fairgoers, together we collected 24,665 pounds of food for the Elk Grove Food Bank!

Needed most desperately, are items that are high in protein. Seniors are particularly vulnerable to malnutrition, so items like peanut butter are a favorite! Other items that are particularly helpful to those in need are:

  • Canned meat (chicken or tuna)
  • Peanut butter
  • Ensure
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned veggies
  • Soup
  • Beans
  • Mac and Cheese
  • Pasta
  • Boxed mashed potatoes
  • Packaged rice
  • Top Ramen
  • Cereal
