Veronica Kovats

Born in 1986, Chicana artist Verónica Kovats Sánchez earned her bachelor’s degree in Art Studio from Sacramento State University in 2010. Currently residing in Sacramento, California, Verónica has showcased her work in various group exhibitions throughout the state, earning her accolades, including Third Place in the Graphics category at the 2019 Small Works Art Show in Lodi, California. Her artistic journey has been highlighted in the Sacramento Bee, notably for the Mues Hues All Women Art Exhibition in March 2020. Verónica is deeply involved in art education, teaching after-school programs in the Sacramento and Elk Grove School Districts, as well as contributing to the Language Academy of Sacramento’s enrichment program. Verónica’s collaborative spirit shines through her involvement with the “No Estás Sola” project in Mexico and Holland, where her art was featured in a music video addressing femicides and domestic violence in Mexico during the pandemic. Her work has also been featured in the Chicana/Latina Studies: Journal of Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social (Spring 2021). Her art centers on female empowerment, featuring surreal and expressive imagery, often intertwining figures with nature to convey emotions. She employs oils, watercolor, ink, and digital mediums to craft intricate details, aiming to evoke spiritual connections through her paintings.
