Joy Bishop-Forshey DVM – Llama Judge
Joy has raised llamas since 1991 and currently has a small herd of over 30 llamas and alpacas. To support her camelid habit, she is a practicing veterinarian in Northwest Ohio. She graduated from “The Ohio State University” in 1982 with a BS in Animal Science and a DVM degree.
Joy had the “joy” of raising two sons, with the help of the llama community, thru the 4-H and ALSA youth programs. She was a 4-H leader for 9 years and has been the superintendent for the local fair llama and alpaca show for over 20 years.
Joy is a “Fiber Enthusiast” and a avid spinner for over 20 years. She is also a member of ORLVA (previous Board Member for several years), MLA, ALSA, ILR-SD, and the LMRG (Lama Medical Research Group.
She has extended her llama horizon by not only judging the luscious fiber, but also the confirmation and performance of the magnificent animals. She enjoys encouraging the camelid future – the YOUTH – to appreciate and promote these wonderful llamas. Her judging has taken her from local fairs, to across the country, and to across “the pond”.
