The California State Fair partners with gaming behemoths, TWITCH and The Republic of Gamers, along with NRG Esports to host our first-ever Esports Competition! Competitors from around the GALAXY will go head to head in the biggest titles in gaming; Overwatch, NBA2K, Apex Legends, Super Smash Brothers, and more. Here are 6 ways to join in on the fun!

All the fun will be hosted in Expo building 5 every day of the fair, July 12th through the 28th!

GarrettG is one of the most accomplished players in Rocket League’s history. He was a founding member of the team Kings of Urban, which he would lead to many notable victories from 2015 to 2016 before joining NRG Esports for Season 2 of the RLCS. Along with teammate Fireburner, GarrettG is the only other player to appear in all 6 RLCS Finals.

The Naifu Nation, as his fans are called, are some of the most loyal and rabid fans in all of esports. You can’t miss the Naifu’s spamming Nairo’s emotes whenever he is streaming or playing in a tournament.

Andreas “Nevix” Karlsson

Andreas “Nevix” Karlsson is a Swedish player on the San Francisco Shock, an Overwatch team franchise within the Overwatch League. Nevix began competing in Overwatch as far back as 2015 when the game was still in closed beta. In 2017, Nevix joined the San Francisco Shock for Overwatch League’s Inaugural Season to fill in the “Flex” position. Nevix continues to amaze fans and viewers alike with his D.va and Genji gameplay, and has remained a staple player, competitor, and personality on the San Francisco Shock since.

2019 Esports Gaming Tournament funded in part by Visit Sacramento through funds generated by the Sacramento Tourism Marketing District.
  • Players are required to check in at the tournament desk 30 min prior to tournament start time. Players who are late to the tournament forfeit their seat and will not be reimbursed. Please allow plenty of time for parking, entering the Fair Gates and walking to the Esports Arena at Expo Center Building #5
  • Tournament players under age 13 must be accompanied to the California State Fair by an adult or guardian.
  • Please include your team Name, if you are signing up for a team game and already have a team made for a tournament.
  • Cash Awards will be mailed within 10 days of the tournament date.
  • All prize payments are subject to all applicable federal and state taxes and reporting.
  • Cash awards are determined by the amount of players registered in each tournament and follow the following payout split 70% / 20% / 10%  for 1st through 3rd place. $2 service fee excluded.
  • No cash prizes will be awarded for the Rocket League tournament. Sponsored prizes will go to the top 3 teams. Prizes will be announced later.
*First, Second and Third places awarded for tournament play.  Registration is limited per tournament.   Sign up are first come first served.  See website for all tournament Rules. Registration does not include admission to the California State Fair.
